Welcome to ISpeakSindhi.com

May 5th, 2008

Nathan, Meena, and Nariandas from ISpeakHindi.com have started another adventure with ISpeakSindhi.com.

Sindhi is the language spoken by the people that are living or whose family came from Sindh. Sindh is currently in Pakistan. However, during the partition of India that created two states, many of the Hindus that were living in Sindh migrated to India. That is the story of my wife’s family.

Sindh has a lot of similarities with Hindi, but it is a distinct language. It was originally written with the Prussian/Arabic script. This script is written from right to left (the opposite of English and Hindi). The ability to write Sindhi appears to be on the decline for those that do not currently live in Pakistan. Many people use the Devanagari script that Hindi uses to write Sindhi.

Stay tuned as we start up the program.
